Bio Südtirol is a cooperative of 160 farmers that, with a cultivated surface of 580 hectares, have produced in 2008 nearly 19,000 tons of organic apples, with a 30% increase from the previous harvest. These numbers make it the largest European association of farmers specialized in production of organic apples. Bio Südtirol is associated to VOG (the Consortium of South Tyrolean Fruit Cooperatives) and operates in an own structure where it processes fruit cultivated exclusively in accordance with organic farming rules.
